NCSA STUDENT COMMITTEE
The NCSA Student Committee
exists as a resource to: facilitate student involvement in the NCSA,
connect graduate and undergraduate students, provide an informal and
welcoming environment for network building, and support one another
in our sociological journeys. The committee representatives include
the graduate student representative, Shelly McGrath (mcgrath@siu.edu), an undergraduate representative,
Jessica Hoover (hooverj@hanover.edu),
and several
other appointed Student Committee members from around the North
Central region.

Students of
additional NCSA opportunities
The committee
encourages undergraduate students to take advantage
opportunities to present at the NCSA conference and submit research
papers to the Student Paper Competition.
Promote additional
programs offered to graduate students including the
Preparing Future Faculty Certification.
As a part of
our commitment to facilitating effective teaching and
learning in sociology, the North Central Sociological
Association provides graduate students the opportunity to
improve their skills by earning a Future Faculty
Certificate. Each year at the NCSA annual meeting, graduate
students can earn the Future Faculty Certificate by
attending five sessions related to teaching and learning,
strategies for success in graduate school, and negotiating
the job market. Since 2003 over 80 certificates have been
awarded to students from 34 universities.
